Clinical Translational Sciences Ph.D. candidate Luisa Rojas has been selected as a Data Science Fellow by UArizona’s Data Science Institute.  The Data Science Fellows program enrolls scientists who have earned or are nearing completion of their Ph.D. and who will benefit from OPEN science principles and data science techniques for their ongoing research projects.  In the one year program, fellows receive intensive training and mentoring in data science techniques and engage in collaborative work within the Institute.

Luisa began the CTS Ph.D. program at the College of Medicine-Phoenix in Fall 2018 with a Fulbright Fellowship from Colombia. She has undertaken a translational dissertation to use the fecal microbiome as pharmacodynamic outcome of therapeutic interventions for TBI in mice and people. She has contributed to a number of diverse research projects, which include histology, data sciences, and social impact. Last year, Luisa received a UA COM-Phoenix Valley Research Partnership award.  She will now be the first to represent the CTS program, the Neurotrauma & Social Impact research team and UA COM-Phoenix in the Data Science Fellows program.
