Andreia Zago Chignalia

Assistant Professor - Tucson

Dr. Chignalia received her Pharm.D. (2004) and Ph.D. (2009) in Cardiovascular Pharmacology from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She then completed postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois at Chicago in pulmonary permeability. Dr. Chignalia joined the University of Arizona in 2019 as Research Assistant Professor and is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Anesthesiology, College of Medicine.

Dr. Chignalia’s research focuses on studying the molecular mechanisms underlying hypertension, heart failure, and lung injury. Her research program utilizes a broad range of techniques that span from in vitro, in situ, and in vivo animal models of disease to dissect the signaling pathways that contribute to disease progression, with the goal of identifying new targets for drug development. Dr. Chignalia has received funding from the University of Arizona Health Sciences and the American Heart Association.
