Shwetal Mehta

Research Associate Professor - Phoenix

Dr. Shwetal Mehta received her Master’s Degree from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India, in Molecular Biology. She then earned her PhD in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003.  She completed her postdoctoral work in the Stiles Laboratory at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. Her postdoctoral work was focused on the identification of a potential therapeutic target for high-grade gliomas.

As Deputy Director, Chief Operating Officer and Pre-Clinical Core Leader of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center, Dr. Mehta is a recognized leader in translational science for brain tumors and has helped develop an array of early-phase pharmacodynamic- and pharmacokinetic-driven studies for patients with malignant brain tumors.  As a Principal Investigator within the Ivy Center, her expertise in molecular biology and the signaling pathways driving glioma biology is essential to the Phase 0 clinical trials program.  Dr. Mehta also holds an appointment at the UArizona College of Medicine - Phoenix as a Research Associate Professor of Neurosurgery.
