Alane Dy

Ph.D. student - Tucson

Alane received her B.S. in Chemistry and her M.S. in Public Health Medical Microbiology from the University of the Philippines. She developed an interest in translational research while working as a clinical laboratory scientist in an outpatient diagnostic laboratory. She joined the CTS program at the University of Arizona in 2015 and the Ledford Lab in April 2016, working toward her PhD in Clinical Translational Sciences with a minor in Biostatistics. Research in the Ledford Lab focuses on the immunology of the airways, specifically, on chronic airway diseases such as asthma. Alane specifically works on the mechanisms by which surfactant protein A (SP-A), a protein found predominantly in the lungs, aids in the resolution of eosinophil-driven inflammation in the airways.
